The IR Blaster (across the top of the device) works in conjunction with HTC Sense TV app turning your M8 into a powerful media control center. The One also rips a page out of LG's playbook and includes knock gestures to power up the display, and other swipe features like swipe down for quick access to voice dialing.

But HTC recognizes the problem and added tap and swipe gestures to help users avoid the pressing the ill-placed button altogether. Despite these changes and improvements, HTC still placed the power button on top of the device, making it near impossible to reach, especially with the new One's increased size (.35 inches vertically). A gorgeous 5-inch screen dominates the front of the device, flanked by BoomSound speakers on the top and bottom and 5 MP front-facing camera. The M8 is the perfect marriage of form and function, a device that doesn't sacrifice performance for a pretty appearance.

HTC ditched the polycarbonate siding of last year's model for a more premium appearance. The body is forged out of 90 percent pure metal with a brushed dark aluminum finish with rounded edges up to the glass. It's available in three colors - Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver, and Amber Gold. The all new One is a gorgeous piece artwork: a stunning feat of design and craftsmanship akin to elegant wristwatches or swanky jewelry. But with the Galaxy S5's impressive specs and exhaustive list of functionality ( it can even be a baby monitor), does the new HTC One remain competitive? This year's model, also known as M8, makes major improvements to the much-loved M7 model by adding new capabilities, better performance, and more third-party partnerships.
